Cowboy Boots Freedom and Liberty Become a Coffee Drink

by Sigrid 18. December 2011 09:18

CLEAR LAKE, Iowa — The rather popular cowboy boots worn by Rick Perry in one interview has made it to the coffee blend market. Yes you got that right, coffee blend. The boots that usually make an appearance on Perry’s campaign trail are now celebrities in their own right. Kicking their way into the world of coffee blends, it seems that Rick Perry’s boots will be more popular than Rick Perry himself, sources say.

A coffee shop in Clear Lake, Iowa reportedly named a coffee drink after Freedom and Liberty –Rick Perry’s boots.

The Cabin Coffee Company got a lot of media attention when it started selling a 100 percent Arabica blend called Freedom & Liberty. The blend was described by patrons as a rich and smooth drink, medium bodied and has smokey undertones. It was also described as a drink that has sparkling acidity by those who have tasted the coffee.

The owner of Cabin Coffee Co. Brad Barber reportedly presented Republican Rick Perry with a generous amount of coffee during an event that the governor attended.

Want to learn more about the boots? Well Perry’s custom made Freedom and Liberty are brown ostrich cowboy boots dating back to 2001. These cowboy boots as mentioned before were inspired by what happened on the fateful day of September 11. The pair was made in June, Perry said in an interview and also recounted that when the bootmaker called what he wanted on the cowboy boots, he told them that he will give them a callback since he was at a loss for ideas. Due to what happened to the World Trade Center and the devastation in the area that happened in September that year, Perry realized that he wanted to put the American flag as an embellishment to the cowboy boots, each with a different name. Since Perry is a true blue American, he gave the left one the name Liberty and the right one Freedom. Perry admits that the 10-year-old pair of boots have been re-soled quite a few times but he still wears them a lot.
