The cowboy hat became quite popular thanks to Black and White movies. What is more interesting is that those who wore a black hat were the villains while the cowboys who wore the white ones were the good guys. It was in the 1900s when the cowboy made it to the movies which of course delighted those who were fans of cowboy culture, the cowboys themselves and later on, people from afar who got enthralled by the world of cowboys.
The American cowboy pride is very much alive today although there was a sharp decline. By the 21st century, cowboy started wearing larger belt buckles. The large belt buckle influenced the Bling-bling scene in the world of Hip Hop – a rather odd influence if we may but it’s part of history.
Today, there are no longer any villains and good guys in the cowboy scene except in certain remakes and the cowboy hat has been replaced by grey and other colors –they no longer needed to be either black or white. One rule is that, felt hats were used for the winter while the straw ones were used for the summer hence the popularity of women in bikini’s wearing straw hats.
It is interesting to note however that cowboy hats have now been replaced by baseball caps –which are relatively a lot cheaper than your Stetson. The old school cowboys still prefer their cowboy hats though. As per our history, not all cowboys wore cowboy hats because some couldn’t afford them. Jeans were actually the staple in terms of cowboy fashion since cowboys need sturdy trousers and trousers that still looked great even if there are patches. Jeans, according to history, are very important symbols of cowboy couture so basically it’s not just about the cowboy hat or cowboy boots.

We’ve been talking about cowboy boots and cowboys for a very long time now but we have not yet defined what a cowboy is.
Contrary to popular belief, cowboys do not dress like the cowboys in the movies. In fact, in the 19th century, they wore whatever was available and usually these were hand me downs from higher classes. A typical cowboy hat in that century would be hats that protected the cowboy from the elements and not necessarily something that looks nice or sexy. The cowboy boots used by cowboys at the time were boots used for the cavalry and since these were mass produced, they were quite popular. Our idea of a cowboy is someone who is tough and always rides a horse –this is true but they not only tended to farms but were also Jack of all Trades. The typical cowboy needs to know how to ride a horse, how to rope, how to saddle and to bronc. They also need to take care of animals since they could not keep calling the doctor to tend to these animals.
Cowboys in the 19th century were also skilled in making shelters and in building them hastily. They also constructed their home fronts on their own. Basically, the picture painted by Hollywood is still very much the same especially when it comes to being macho.
By the 1900s, the duster came to the lives of the cowboy. The duster was utilized as a way for the cowboys to keep their clothes clean. It was also during this era when cowboys wore pointy-toed cowboy boots. Some cowboy boots are still pointy-toed but there are now others that have toes that are not that pointed. The reason for the pointy-toed cowboy boots is because cowboys spend a good amount of time on horseback and their shoes were always in the stirrups.

Cowboy boots are not just good for walking they are perfect for dancing too! If you are thinking of participating in a western dance, you can make use of this as a guide.
The most popular dances in the west are social dances. Western dances usually include the Polka, the Two Step, Waltz, Cowboy Chaha, Schottische, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, among others. For group dances, the most popular are the following: line dance, modern western square dance, and traditional square dance.
Much like your regular cowboy boots i.e. the simpler ones, country dances are quite informal. In fact, they are relaxed and very casual. They are not as exotic or elaborate as other dances in the world but these dances are just oh-so-cowboy. If you are planning on dancing one of these dances, you better make sure that you have a good pair of cowboy boots to show off.
There is such a thing as cowboy etiquette and this usually involves the cowboy hat but if you are fond of dancing cowboy dances, you should follow the dance floor etiquette in the West too. Usually, several kinds of dancing take place in one dance floor. The progressive dances just stay outside of the dance floor itself while the others such as swing are found either right smack on the center of the floor together with the line dancers or out side of the dance floor.
It is also interesting to note that these dances involve the man setting the pace. He decides how long the stride should be and decides when to change step –the woman follows him. However, if the woman is better at dancing, she would have to do a rather tactful push and pulling to guide her partner. This should never be obvious though because as soon as the male learns how to dance a certain routine, he would take the lead.

Just recently during one of those events where Texan Governor Rick Perry was invited, he was asked a question that has kept on haunting him since July, the question having to do with the whereabouts of Freedom and Liberty –Perry’s signature cowboy boots.
The question was asked while Perry was at the Fainting Goat restaurant. The governor answered that the cowboy boots were on the bus. Perry later on added that he has chosen to wear ropers because leather boots get cold sometimes. Perry rarely appears on television or in front of his supporters without Freedom and Liberty. He reportedly switched footwear after his back surgery in July of 2011 though so this could be the real reason why the cowboy boots aren’t being worn by the governor anymore.
During the interview however, Perry added that the bottoms of his ropers are rather thick and said that he likes the extra insulation and cushion while in Iowa. He further said that leather boots get cold and admitted that he learned quite a few things while in Iowa. Leather indeed gets cold and can make your feet uncomfortable especially when you do not wear socks. For those who would like to wear leather cowboy boots during wintertime, it is best to make sure that your feet are kept warm. It is interesting to note that Perry was wearing black Justin Ropers during this particular interview and what is more interesting to voters is that they only cost $70. Unlike other president-wannabes, Perry may be one of the most tight-fisted –a good indication that he is more levelheaded than others for not choosing expensive stuff. Although Perry later on got an onslaught of criticism after several blunders on TV, the Texan governor remains popular among his constituents because he is deemed as the only person who might be able to give the USA the change that it needs.

Wearing cowboy boots is not just a fashion statement but a lifestyle. Some people would say that wearing cowboy boots depends on your outfit but really, you can wear cowboy boots with anything, it is just a matter of you having an open mind. With this, one can say that you can even wear those comfortable cowboy boots with your wedding dress if you like since no one, not even the fashion industry, should stop you from wearing the shoes you are comfortable wearing.
This specific type of riding boot however was historically worn by cowboys only but today, non-cowboys and non-cowgirls can wear a pair of cowboy boots without being called a cowboy or a cowgirl. Many still associate cowboy boots with the country though but some city folks have already incorporated country style with big city fashion. Cities like L.A. for example has seen a renewed interest in cowboy boots especially since a lot of celebrities are wearing them even in the middle of summer. Now don’t go bashing them because they might have sweaty and smelly feet! Cowboy boots are just so fashionable that you can wear them just about anywhere and under any type of weather condition.
There are two kinds of cowboy boots –the western style more popularly known as classic cowboy boots and the roper, the riding boots used by those who join the rodeo.
Classic cowboy boots are distinguished by their tall shaft while the roper has a shorter boot shaft.
For those who would like to know a bit of history about these rather interesting shoes, one should know that boots are important both for riders and cowboys. For centuries, riding boots are deemed to be very important for equestrian life while the cowboy boots we know today were and still are important for ranch life.

CLEAR LAKE, Iowa — The rather popular cowboy boots worn by Rick Perry in one interview has made it to the coffee blend market. Yes you got that right, coffee blend. The boots that usually make an appearance on Perry’s campaign trail are now celebrities in their own right. Kicking their way into the world of coffee blends, it seems that Rick Perry’s boots will be more popular than Rick Perry himself, sources say.
A coffee shop in Clear Lake, Iowa reportedly named a coffee drink after Freedom and Liberty –Rick Perry’s boots.
The Cabin Coffee Company got a lot of media attention when it started selling a 100 percent Arabica blend called Freedom & Liberty. The blend was described by patrons as a rich and smooth drink, medium bodied and has smokey undertones. It was also described as a drink that has sparkling acidity by those who have tasted the coffee.
The owner of Cabin Coffee Co. Brad Barber reportedly presented Republican Rick Perry with a generous amount of coffee during an event that the governor attended.
Want to learn more about the boots? Well Perry’s custom made Freedom and Liberty are brown ostrich cowboy boots dating back to 2001. These cowboy boots as mentioned before were inspired by what happened on the fateful day of September 11. The pair was made in June, Perry said in an interview and also recounted that when the bootmaker called what he wanted on the cowboy boots, he told them that he will give them a callback since he was at a loss for ideas. Due to what happened to the World Trade Center and the devastation in the area that happened in September that year, Perry realized that he wanted to put the American flag as an embellishment to the cowboy boots, each with a different name. Since Perry is a true blue American, he gave the left one the name Liberty and the right one Freedom. Perry admits that the 10-year-old pair of boots have been re-soled quite a few times but he still wears them a lot.

Cowboy Boots Are Like Slippers
Cowboy boots are like slippers said one fashion director in an interview and nope we aren’t kidding. His name is Hal Rubenstein and he showed how easily he can slip off his boots.
Indeed, cowboy boots are like slippers because they are quite comfortable and one can wear them just about anywhere. For those who have flat feet, wearing cowboy boots is your best bet –forget about those medically recommended slippers that are rubberized!
Apart from being quite comfortable, cowboy boots are also very alluring thanks to the stitches and all that craftsmanship. This is only true when it comes to well-made boots and not those that are mass produced. There are however a number of mass produced brands that offer very nice designs i.e. Justin.
Buying his first cowboy boots at the age of 17, Mr. Rubenstein and his partner have already collected around 50 pairs, according to Chron.com.
A fashion director liking cowboy boots should not only be the reason for you to buy them though but this is a good thing because the fashion industry is a big influence.
For those who haven’t bought their first pair yet, it would be best to take a look your size first because different sizes apply for cowboy boots. Getting the right size is of course important because you won’t feel comfortable if you get the wrong size. We know that you know this already but we are just mentioning it so you do not forget.
In Clear Lake, Iowa, there is more good news for cowboy boot enthusiasts because Coffee Blend just named a new drink based on Rick Perry’s 9-11 cowboy boots. The blend is called Freedom and Liberty Blend. This is of course only sold at the Cabin Coffee Company.
The brown ostrich boots made for Perry dates back to 2001 and were inspired by what happened on September 11.

Sure cowboy boots are worn by almost everyone. In fact, even Asians wear western cowboy boots. With the Japanese and the Chinese basically butchering the whole idea of the cowboy boots however, sometimes the boots they were are left unrecognizable and look more like the boots worn by anime characters. This makes it more difficult for those who want to get authentic cowboy boots to find a good pair. There are myriad of places that make cowboy boots but wherever it is from, the fashionable will always have this urge to buy a pair.

We are guessing that what matters most in this scenario is how to wear cowboy boots the way a cowboy or a cowgirl does. If you never wondered why cowboy boots always have pointed tips, then you are in the right track. Let’s get technical with this one. There are actually different degrees of sharpness for you to take a look at.

It can be really pointed, can be medium and can also be round. It is interesting to note though that pointed tips of traditional cowboy boots helps the rider to slide his or her shoes in the stirrups. This makes it easier for him or her to slide it out too making riding a much better experience.

The conceptualization of the western cowboy boots rooted out of a need and was not at all dictated by fashion although of course it is quite fashionable but definitely more fashionable than what bootmakers of old ever thought. So as not to look like a faker or a poseur for that matter, you might as well wear your cowboy boots the way a cowboy would i.e. by not putting your jeans inside the boots. Due to practical reasons, this isn’t done by cowboys because it is very uncomfortable to ride a horse with the jeans inside the boots limiting one’s movement.
