I just recently had a chance to try on a pair of Corral Ladies Distressed Vintage Goat Cowgirl Boot with a Cognac Lizard Inlay. Just slipping my feet into these fabulous boots lifted my spirit. These may be my favorite boots of the season. The patterns, the colors the heel and the toe are all just fantastic.

If you want a pair of boots that say "I am western style" then these boots are made for you. If you don't just melt looking at the picture then you have no heart.

Besides the comfort and durability of a pair of great-fitting boots, there is also the style factor. And there were several cowgirls at the recent Austin City Limits Music Festival who were sporting some real authentic cowgirl style. Only about one in every 500 to 1000 folks was wearing cowboy boots, so those that were wearing them stood out right away. Some of my favorite looks were a bright orange dress with very dark burnt-orange boots, faded blue denim cut-off shorts paired with slouchy tan boots, and one young man with tight dark-wash denim jeans and deep wine-colored boots with a slim tall heel. He looked great.
A few words of caution, however. Skirt lengths should be, in my opinion, age appropriate. And you can overdo it. There was one outfit that combined a turquoise and black print dress with black boots. Fair enough, but then she’d added a straw hat with turquoise and black trim, and turquoise and black knee-high socks. Just goes to show that a good idea can be taken a tad too far . . .

In the good ol’ USA, lots of folks still look a bit like they’re from their ancestral old country. Dressing with a nod to your ethnic heritage is nearly always flattering. You’ve probably noticed how people of Scottish heritage look great in plaid, and nothing beats a handsome African-American woman in an African-inspired print. On the flip side of all that ethnic dressing, however, is Western wear – the style that came out the melting pot itself. Western wear came about when all the best clothing traditions from many varied cultures that made America came together. And it’s flexible. Cowboy boots go easy as pie from casual to formal wear. Dress with a little cowboy flair and you’ll look independent, strong, and creative all at the same time. Besides, everybody looks good in Western wear. That’s the real reason it will never go out of style. If you are looking to express your western style, you can look at our boot reviews to see what people are saying about the most popular boots.

The young man growing up in my house is 16 now, and it looks like his feet have finally stopped growing. They’ll top out at about size 15. If they get any bigger, he’ll have to put his britches on over his head. We haven’t bought any footwear for him other than athletic shoes in a long time. His feet were growing so fast, we started looking for a place with shoes to rent. But now it’s time. And the first footwear that we’ll invest in will be a pair of black cowboy boots. Black boots can take you just about anywhere, especially if you live in the West or Southwest. You can pair them with anything from jeans to a tux and you’ll look slick as a quarter dipped in mercury. Get the right pair – well made, great fit, quality materials – and they’ll last so long, you can be buried in them. So now the question is: which boots? Time to start perusing the feedback at cowboy boot review . . .
